Aligarh to get potato processing plant worth Rs 93.97 crore, opening new markets for farmers

A new potato processing unit is being established in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, at a cost of nearly Rs 94 crore. The project aims to produce potato-based soups and snacks for export to European markets. This initiative is expected to provide local farmers with a reliable and lucrative market, significantly strengthening the district's agricultural economy.

A significant initiative has been launched to elevate potato cultivation in Aligarh district. According to reports from Amar Ujala, a state-of-the-art potato processing plant is being established here at a cost of Rs 93.97 crore. The primary objective of this project is to streamline the potato-related business in the district and ensure that farmers receive fair prices for their produce.

The establishment of this processing unit will focus heavily on value addition for potatoes. Various types of snacks and soups will be prepared at the facility. The quality of these products will be maintained according to international standards so that they can be exported directly to markets in European countries.

With the arrival of this plant at the local level, farmers will no longer need to travel far to sell their crops. They will have access to a large and permanent market within their own district. This is expected to reduce the role of middlemen and potentially increase the income of the farmers.

This initiative is being viewed as a major transformation for the agricultural sector in Aligarh. For potato-growing farmers, this will not only be a new facility but also a medium to gain global recognition for their produce.

The administration and relevant departments believe that this processing unit will also create new employment opportunities in the district. Local people will be able to find work in the operation of the plant and its associated supply chain.

In the coming times, this plant could establish Aligarh as a major hub for potato processing. This will not only improve the economic condition of the farmers but also provide momentum to the industrial development of the district.

Work on this project has currently commenced, and local farmers are quite enthusiastic about this new arrangement. It is expected that the plant will soon begin operating at full capacity.
