Vice-President Calls Company Secretaries Guardians of Governance at ICSI 58th Foundation Day
Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan addressed the 58th Foundation Day of ICSI in New Delhi. He described company secretaries as the guardians of governance and the backbone of investor confidence in the corporate sector. Emphasizing the role of professional institutions in building a developed India, he also launched the MSME Compliance Calendar 2027.
Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan attended the 58th Foundation Day celebrations of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Commending the institute's six-decade journey, he praised its efforts in strengthening transparent and ethical corporate governance. The Vice-President emphasized that good governance serves as an invisible infrastructure essential for sustaining investor confidence.
Describing company secretaries as the 'Guardians of Governance,' he noted that they remain at the nucleus of the ethical and strategic foundation of Indian industry. Addressing the impact of artificial intelligence and data analytics in the modern era, he clarified that while technology can assist in decision-making, the responsibility for integrity and accountability remains with humans.
He stated that to achieve the vision of a developed India by 2047, strong institutions are as vital as physical infrastructure. He identified ICSI, ICAI, and ICMAI as key pillars of the nation's economic ecosystem. The Vice-President lauded ICSI's fee-waiver initiative to encourage youth to join the profession and urged the institute to continue expanding its outreach to students.
During the event, the Vice-President launched the MSME Compliance Calendar 2027. He also appreciated the institute's initiatives for startups and MSMEs. Furthermore, he commended ICSI's contribution to the National Defence Fund and the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund under the 'Shaheed Ki Beti' initiative, remarking that good intentions lead to positive outcomes.
Concluding his address, he called upon the ICSI fraternity to uphold the trust placed in the profession and contribute to building a self-reliant India. He expressed that India should aspire to become the world's largest economy to ensure it can set its own terms. The event was attended by ICSI President Pawan Chandak, former Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sonal Mansingh, and other dignitaries.
