Vice President addresses Mahaparva Kshamapana Ceremony in New Delhi, emphasizes values of Ahimsa
Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan addressed the Mahaparva Kshamapana Ceremony in New Delhi, highlighting the importance of forgiveness, non-violence, and compassion. He stated that forgiveness means choosing reform over revenge and dialogue over hatred. He further emphasized that building a developed India requires trust among citizens, strong family values, and compassion within society.
Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan addressed the Mahaparva Kshamapana Ceremony-2026 held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event was organized by the Bhagwan Mahavir Smarak Samiti and the Jain Mahasabha Delhi. The Vice President described the occasion as a celebration of the universal values of forgiveness, friendship, and inner purification.
In his address, he clarified that forgiveness does not mean accepting injustice; rather, it is the choice to abandon the spirit of revenge in favor of reform and reconciliation. He defined Ahimsa not merely as the absence of physical violence, but as the absence of violence in thought, word, and deed.
Highlighting the historical significance of Jainism, the Vice President noted that the Jain tradition has established forgiveness as a spiritual discipline. He recalled the contributions of Jain scholars to Tamil literature and culture, describing it as an essential part of India's shared heritage.
Referring to the Indian ethos of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', he stated that the teachings of Jain philosophy provide a path toward peace and coexistence in today's conflict-ridden world. He urged people to overcome anger and intolerance.
Discussing the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, Shri Radhakrishnan remarked that economic prosperity alone is insufficient. For a truly developed nation, mutual trust among citizens, moral values within families, and compassion in society are essential.
Reiterating the mantra of 'Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi' (Development as well as Heritage), he urged the youth to focus on character building and the values of responsibility. During the event, he presented the 'Jain Samaj Ratna Award' to Shri K. C. Jain.
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, and various Jain saints. The Vice President concluded by appealing to all to promote the spirit of unity and service within society.
