Education Ministry Secretary leads 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' Shramdaan, promotes cleanliness among students
Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, T. K. Anil Kumar, led a cleanliness drive under the 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' campaign at a PM SHRI school in New Delhi. According to the PIB, the event included tree plantation and a quiz on solid waste management, aimed at fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among students.

The Department of School Education and Literacy, under the Union Ministry of Education, organized a special cleanliness drive (Shramdaan) at a PM SHRI school in New Delhi as part of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' (SHS) 2026 campaign. According to a PIB press release, the drive was led by the Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, T. K. Anil Kumar.
The event was conducted under the supervision of Eco Clubs as part of 'Mission LiFE', with active participation from students of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), teachers, and senior officials. The cleaning drive covered the school premises, nearby community areas, and the park located in front of the school.
Following the Shramdaan, a tree plantation program was held under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0' initiative. Students participated enthusiastically, planting saplings to spread the message of environmental conservation. Additionally, a quiz on the 'Solid Waste Management Rules' was organized to educate students about responsible waste disposal and segregation.
During the event, senior officials from the Department of School Education and Literacy interacted with the students. Discussions were held on the importance of literacy, cleanliness, and sustainable living. Officials emphasized that schools play a crucial role in fostering environmentally responsible habits among students.
The primary objective of this initiative is to raise awareness about cleanliness among students and inspire them to contribute to the vision of a 'Clean and Developed India'. The department has reiterated its commitment to making cleanliness an integral part of daily life.
The event was attended by several senior officials, including Additional Secretaries Dheeraj Sahu and Archana Sharma Awasthi, Joint Secretaries Prachi Pandey and Dr. Amarpreet Duggal, Deputy Director General (Statistics) Dr. Pankaj K. P. Shreyaskar, Chief Controller of Accounts Deepika Jain, and KVS Commissioner Vikas Gupta.
This collective effort not only cleaned the school premises but also instilled a sense of environmental stewardship among the students.
