Jharkhand Government Opposes Changes in Mineral Law, Prepares to Move Supreme Court

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has strongly opposed the new mineral law (MMDR Act) introduced by the central government. The state government believes this legislation could create a crisis for Jharkhand's exchequer. Consequently, the state government has decided to approach the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, the opposition has accused the government of turning the state into a 'lootkhand' (a land of plunder).
