Major fake fertilizer racket busted in Agra, supplies being sold under branded company names

A joint team of the agriculture department, revenue department, and police has busted a major fake fertilizer racket in Kheragarh, Agra. The accused were filling fake fertilizer into packets of reputed companies to sell to farmers. Two vehicles were seized during the raid. Police are conducting a thorough investigation and are searching for other members of the gang.

A major fraud against farmers has been uncovered in the Kheragarh area of Agra district. According to reports from Amar Ujala, a gang was using branded bags of reputed companies to package and sell fake fertilizer to farmers. Upon receiving information about this illegal trade, a joint team comprising the agriculture department, revenue department, and police conducted a raid.

During the operation, the team seized two vehicles loaded with a significant quantity of fake fertilizer. This fertilizer was being supplied from Rajasthan and sold to local farmers under the guise of being genuine products. Officials have collected evidence from the scene and impounded the vehicles.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the gang had been active for some time, misusing the names of well-known companies. This not only caused financial loss to the farmers but also posed a risk to the quality of their crops.

Agriculture department officials stated that the use of fake fertilizer negatively impacts both soil fertility and crop yields. The gang exploited the trust of farmers by selling them substandard products.

Police have registered a case, and those apprehended are currently being interrogated. Officials noted that the gang's connections to Rajasthan have been confirmed, and the scope of the investigation is being expanded.

Authorities have advised farmers to purchase fertilizers and seeds only from authorized dealers and to verify the QR codes or seals on the packaging. Farmers have been urged to report any suspicious activity to the agriculture department immediately.

This action has caused alarm among those involved in the fake fertilizer trade. Police and administrative teams are now searching for the ringleaders of the gang to dismantle the entire network.
