The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, under the guidance of the Ministry of Ayush, celebrated the 11th Ayurveda Day on September 23, 2026, at Sankalp Bhawan, New Delhi. The theme for this year's event was 'Ayurveda for a Healthy Tomorrow,' aimed at promoting preventive healthcare and sustainable living. Senior officials and staff of the ministry participated actively in the event.

A special seminar and discussion session were organized during the program. Shri R.K. Tiwari, Additional Director General of Urban Health Services (UHS) at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, highlighted the relevance of the theme. Dr. Ramavatar Sharma from the All India Institute of Ayurveda delivered an expert lecture on community welfare and preventive medicine. He explained how small, practical changes, such as workplace yoga, posture correction, and eye-breaks, can be integrated into daily routines to improve productivity.

Dr. Ashish Kumar Tripathi from the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) discussed the topic 'Nature Pharmacy: Tradition, Science and Healing' in detail. He explained the therapeutic potential of medicinal plants and the importance of strengthening the immune system against modern environmental stress. He also shed light on the scientific basis of daily wellness protocols (Dinacharya) and seasonal adaptation (Ritucharya).

During the session, speakers emphasized that in the modern health landscape, treatment alone is not sufficient; there is a need for a prevention-based, holistic health system. Identifying lifestyle-related conditions and mental stress as the primary determinants of modern health, experts called for the protection of community well-being.

Ministry officials interacted with the experts and discussed ways to adopt these preventive strategies within the urban administrative framework. The objective of the event was to spread awareness about health in government workplaces and integrate the principles of Ayurveda into daily life.

This event was in line with the changing global health landscape, where preventive healthcare is being prioritized. The ministry emphasized that a healthy future can be built by combining the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda with modern science.

At the conclusion of the program, officials pledged to implement these health protocols in their workplaces and personal lives. This initiative marks a significant step toward creating a healthier and more efficient work environment.
