The Department of Higher Education, under the Union Ministry of Education, has achieved significant milestones in record management and cleanliness during 'Special Campaign 5.0'. According to official data, the department has completed the review of 95.2 percent of physical files and 87.46 percent of e-files.

This campaign covered approximately 1,159 offices and institutions across the country. Its primary objective was to reduce pending matters and improve the working environment. Through this process, the department successfully vacated 14,44,839 square feet of office space.

During the campaign, the disposal of old records and scrap generated 6.89 crore rupees in revenue for the department. Additionally, over 3,312 files were digitized, and 90,629 files were either removed or closed.

The Department of Higher Education is now preparing for 'Special Campaign 6.0', scheduled to be held from October 2 to October 31, 2026. The goal is to promote cleanliness in autonomous organizations and higher education institutions while resolving pending grievances.

The campaign will be conducted in two phases. The first phase, from September 15 to 30, will focus on preparation, including setting targets and identifying key areas for cleaning. The second phase, from October 2 to 31, will focus on implementation, with special attention given to public grievances and parliamentary assurances.

During the previous campaign, between November 2025 and August 2026, 24,126 public grievances and 4,177 appeals were resolved. The department aims to place special emphasis on the effective management of e-waste this year.

Participating offices are required to submit daily progress reports during the campaign. Furthermore, the hashtag #SpecialCampaign6 will be used on social media to encourage public participation and promote sustainability.
