Rainwater floods Ganga Expressway toll lane in Unnao due to lack of drainage

The Ganga Expressway toll plaza in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, faced significant waterlogging following recent heavy rainfall. The downpour, which began on Sunday and continued through Monday, exposed the lack of proper drainage infrastructure at the toll facility. The accumulation of water disrupted the movement of vehicles passing through the area.

According to local reports, the toll lane lacked effective water drainage arrangements. Consequently, rainwater pooled on the road, creating a waterlogged situation that hindered operations. Both toll plaza staff and commuters experienced considerable inconvenience due to the stagnant water.

Recognizing the severity of the situation, the executing agency was forced to take immediate action. Pumping sets were installed at the site to drain the accumulated water. These machines were utilized to clear the lane and restore normal traffic flow.

As reported by Amar Ujala, this incident highlights a significant gap in the infrastructure's drainage planning. The occurrence of such waterlogging on a major project like the expressway has sparked discussions among local residents regarding the quality of construction and planning.
