A case of assault against a contractual lineman has been reported in Kannauj district, Uttar Pradesh. According to reports from Amar Ujala, the employee refused to comply with a demand from local strongmen to illegally activate a transformer. Angered by this refusal, the individuals assaulted him.

Deeply distressed and mentally troubled by the incident, the lineman decided to protest by climbing onto a transformer. He sat at a significant height, causing panic in the area. Upon receiving information, local residents and officials rushed to the scene.

Extensive efforts were made to bring the lineman down safely. He remained on the transformer for approximately four hours. Eventually, after prolonged persuasion and assurances, he climbed down. A large crowd had gathered at the site during this time.

According to the Amar Ujala report, the entire incident is linked to the high-handedness of local strongmen and the harassment of an employee. While no official statement regarding further legal action has been released yet, the incident has sparked significant local discussion.

Such incidents also raise questions about the safety of electricity department employees. The worker stated that he was merely performing his duties, for which he had to face physical abuse.

Local administration and police are investigating the matter, considering its seriousness. The victim's condition and his grievances are being addressed on a priority basis.
