Case registered against BJP leader in Karnataka over alleged removal of names from voter list

Following allegations of removing Muslim voters' names from the electoral rolls in Karnataka, cases have been registered in Belagavi, Bidar, and Mysuru. In Belagavi, an FIR has been filed against a BJP leader and others for allegedly using fraudulent documents through Form 7 to delete 198 names.

The controversy surrounding the removal of names from the voter list in Karnataka has intensified. Legal action has been initiated following allegations that Muslim voters' names were being deleted from the electoral rolls in various parts of the state. FIRs have been registered in Belagavi, Bidar, and Mysuru in connection with these incidents.

In Belagavi, serious allegations have been leveled primarily against BJP leader Ravi Patil and his associates. They are accused of attempting to delete the names of 198 voters from the electoral roll by misusing Form 7. It is alleged that fraudulent documents were used to facilitate this process.

Based on the complaints received, the police have launched an investigation into the matter. Officials state that following improper procedures to manipulate the voter list is a punishable offense under the law. The roles of other individuals involved in this matter are also being examined.

The opposition has targeted the government over this issue and has demanded an impartial inquiry. Meanwhile, the local administration has stated that strict action will be taken against those who violate the rules during the voter list purification process.

Cases have also been registered in Bidar and Mysuru following similar complaints. In these areas, allegations of irregularities have been raised regarding the process of removing names from the electoral rolls. The police are currently in the process of gathering evidence for all these cases.

According to the guidelines of the Election Commission, any changes to the voter list must only be made under the prescribed legal process. Any attempt by an individual to delete names through fraudulent documents affects the integrity of the electoral process.

Currently, the police investigation is ongoing, and reports have been sought from the relevant authorities. This incident has sparked a significant debate in the state regarding electoral transparency and the protection of voter rights.
