Following an inspection, the District Magistrate has instructed officials to complete the utility shifting work by December 2026 to ensure relief from the daily traffic jams.
VIMARSHNAARAD TVResidents of Kanpur can soon expect relief from the severe traffic jams at Jarib Chowki, one of the city's busiest intersections. The administration has launched a major project to reduce the heavy traffic pressure around this intersection and the nearby railway crossing. The primary objective of this scheme, being developed at a cost of approximately 320 crore rupees, is to facilitate smoother vehicle movement in the area.
The District Magistrate recently visited the site to conduct an intensive inspection of the construction work. During this visit, they held a meeting with officials from relevant departments to review the project's progress. The District Magistrate has issued clear instructions that the utility shifting work, which is currently hindering the intersection's development, must be completed within the deadline of December 2026.
Under the utility shifting process, electricity poles, pipelines, and other infrastructure that are currently obstructing road expansion will be relocated. The administration believes that only after these obstacles are removed will the construction work gain momentum, making the transformation of the intersection possible. Officials have been instructed to work in coordination to ensure the project is completed on time.
Jarib Chowki intersection is a major hub in the city, through which thousands of vehicles pass daily. Due to the presence of a railway crossing, long traffic jams often occur here, causing significant inconvenience to the public. The completion of this project will not only reduce traffic pressure but will also significantly decrease the likelihood of accidents.
The administration has placed this work on its priority list. The District Magistrate has warned that any negligence in the work will not be tolerated. Officials have been asked to submit progress reports at regular intervals. Local residents have welcomed this move by the administration and expressed hope that the timely completion of the work will free them from daily traffic congestion.
