Gas bookings for 20,000 consumers cancelled in Kanpur due to incomplete e-KYC

In Kanpur district, gas cylinder bookings for approximately 20,000 consumers have been cancelled. According to a report by Amar Ujala, these cancellations occurred because the consumers failed to update their e-KYC by the September 30 deadline. A total of 1.88 lakh consumers in the district had not completed the mandatory e-KYC process within the stipulated time frame.

Significant news has emerged for gas consumers in the Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. According to a report by Amar Ujala, the gas bookings of approximately 20,000 consumers were cancelled late Wednesday evening. The primary reason for this action is the failure of these consumers to complete the mandatory e-KYC process on time.

The administration and gas agencies had set September 30 as the final deadline for updating e-KYC. The report indicates that there were 1.88 lakh consumers in Kanpur district who did not complete this process within the specified time frame. Due to this oversight, these consumers are now facing difficulties in booking their gas cylinders.

Gas agencies have clarified that e-KYC is mandatory and bookings cannot be accepted without it. When these 20,000 consumers failed to update their details by late Wednesday, the system automatically cancelled their bookings. This step has been taken in compliance with government regulations.

The local administration had previously issued notifications urging consumers to complete their e-KYC. However, a large number of individuals did not treat the process with the necessary urgency. Following the cancellation of their bookings, these consumers must now complete the e-KYC process immediately to restore their gas supply.

According to the Amar Ujala report, gas agency offices are expected to see an increase in footfall from consumers whose bookings have been cancelled. Officials have advised consumers to visit their nearest gas agency center as soon as possible to update their e-KYC to avoid any future issues in receiving cylinders.

This incident serves as a warning to all consumers who have not yet updated their documents. The administration has made it clear that adherence to these rules is mandatory for everyone. Consumers whose bookings have been cancelled will now need to contact their respective agencies to restart the process.
