Heavy Traffic Jams in Kanpur During Ganesh Visarjan, Ambulances Stranded

Kanpur faced severe traffic congestion on Sunday due to Ganesh idol immersion processions. Major routes, including Shukla Ganj and Golaghat, saw long queues of vehicles, causing ambulances to get stuck and creating significant difficulties for commuters.

Traffic movement in Kanpur was severely disrupted on Sunday as processions for Ganesh idol immersion took to the streets. The heavy volume of vehicles heading toward the ghats led to massive gridlocks across several parts of the city. According to reports from Amar Ujala, the stretch from Shukla Ganj bridge to Golaghat remained congested for several hours.

The impact of the traffic pressure was also felt by emergency services. Ambulances were reported to be stuck in the middle of the traffic, causing delays in transporting patients to hospitals. Similar scenes of slow-moving traffic were observed on the route from Lalkurti to Golaghat.

Local residents noted that the surge in crowds during the immersion procession made traffic management extremely challenging. The congestion, which lasted for over five hours, forced commuters to struggle significantly to reach their destinations.

While administrative efforts were made to control the crowd, the sheer number of people participating in the immersion overwhelmed the existing traffic arrangements. Long lines of vehicles on main roads caused complete disruption of movement in several areas of the city.

Police personnel were deployed to maintain order and security during the immersion process, but the excessive volume of vehicles complicated the situation. The effects of the traffic jam persisted until late evening, causing considerable inconvenience to the city's residents.

This situation arose as a large number of devotees headed toward the ghats to immerse their idols. Although the administration had planned some route diversions in advance, the pressure of the crowd rendered these measures largely ineffective.

Currently, the situation is expected to return to normal gradually. The disruption during the immersion in Kanpur has raised questions about the city's traffic management system, highlighting the need for better planning during large-scale public events in the future.
