Heavy rains wreak havoc in Kanpur: 15 transformers burnt and 20 electricity poles damaged in two days

Continuous heavy rainfall and strong winds over the past two days have severely disrupted life in Kanpur. According to Amar Ujala, the adverse weather caused 15 transformers to burn out and 20 electricity poles to collapse across the city. Power supply remained interrupted in several areas due to this extensive damage. Electricity department teams worked tirelessly until Saturday night to carry out repairs and restore the power network.

Kanpur has faced significant damage to its power infrastructure due to persistent rainfall and strong winds over the last two days. According to reports from Amar Ujala, the city's electricity department has had to deal with widespread destruction caused by the severe weather conditions.

Official details indicate that the combination of heavy rain and gusty winds resulted in 15 transformers burning out across various parts of the city. Furthermore, the pressure from the strong winds caused 20 electricity poles to snap and fall, leading to a complete disruption of the power distribution network.

This damage to essential infrastructure left many areas of the city without electricity for extended periods. Local residents faced considerable inconvenience as homes and businesses remained in the dark during the outage.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the electricity department launched an immediate repair operation. Technical teams and staff were deployed to the affected regions to restore power services as quickly as possible.

Reports confirm that the challenging repair work continued throughout Saturday night. Department personnel remained focused on replacing the damaged equipment and re-erecting the fallen poles to normalize the power supply.

Although waterlogging and slippery road conditions caused by the rain created obstacles for the maintenance crews, the teams persisted in their efforts to bring the grid back online.

Currently, the department's primary focus remains on restoring electricity to all remaining affected areas. Authorities have requested that citizens remain patient, noting that the ongoing bad weather has impacted the pace of the restoration efforts.
