Tractor-Trolley Splits on Railway Tracks in Kanpur, Train Operations Halted for Half an Hour

A tractor-trolley loaded with sand split into two pieces while crossing the tracks at the Chakeri railway crossing in Kanpur, causing it to get stuck. As a result, several trains, including the Kalka-Muri and other superfast trains, were forced to stop mid-route. Rail traffic remained disrupted for approximately half an hour, causing significant inconvenience to passengers.

A major accident was averted at gate number 75D of the Chakeri railway crossing in Kanpur on Thursday evening. A tractor-trolley loaded with sand suddenly split into two pieces while crossing the railway tracks. Due to this mechanical failure, the rear portion of the trolley became stuck on the tracks, directly impacting train operations.

According to reports from Amar Ujala, the railway administration was alerted immediately upon receiving information about the incident. Given the safety risks, trains were halted as a precautionary measure. During this time, the Kalka-Muri and other superfast trains were stopped mid-route, causing considerable inconvenience to the passengers on board.

Efforts to clear the tracks were initiated immediately with the help of railway staff and local residents. After about half an hour of intense effort, the parts of the tractor-trolley were successfully removed from the tracks. Only after the tracks were cleared could train operations be resumed.

The incident caused delays in train schedules, forcing passengers to wait at stations and along the route. Railway officials stated that a major accident was avoided because the trains were stopped in time. However, this incident has once again raised concerns regarding safety at railway crossings and the movement of heavy vehicles.

Local police and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrived at the scene to assess the situation. An investigation is underway regarding the negligence of the tractor driver. Officials noted that such issues often arise due to heavy vehicles at railway crossings, and stricter measures will be implemented to address this.

Passengers expressed frustration over the sudden stoppage of trains, though they acknowledged that it was necessary for safety reasons. The railway administration has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the passengers.

Once the tracks were cleared, train operations gradually returned to normal. This incident has once again highlighted the need for increased vigilance at railway crossings to prevent such occurrences in the future.
