Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched a new action plan for rural prosperity in his constituency, Vidisha, on Saturday. While inaugurating the 'Samriddh Vidisha Model', he expressed his vision of making every village in the district poverty-free. The model emphasizes ensuring at least two to three sources of income for every family.

The Minister explained that small farmers will be integrated with activities like animal husbandry, goat rearing, poultry, and beekeeping alongside modern agriculture. He stressed that merely increasing production is insufficient; it is essential to connect farmers with collective selling through FPOs, processing, packaging, and marketing. The government will facilitate bank linkages and training for this purpose.

Special focus has been placed on skill development for youth and women. A target has been set to provide employment opportunities to 15,000 youths in Vidisha. Training in fields like beauty therapy and tailoring is being provided through RSETI. The Minister noted that most women undergoing training are keen to start their own businesses, and they will be supported through bank loans.

To monitor this campaign, a 'Vidisha Development Index' will be created, and a real-time dashboard will be utilized. Development works will be reviewed every six months. The participation of Gram Sabhas, self-help groups, and panchayat representatives will be ensured. The Minister stated that this model would serve as an example for other regions as well.

During his visit, Shivraj Singh Chouhan participated in the Ganesh Utsav at Vatsalya School and inspired the students. Emphasizing the importance of respecting parents and performing good deeds, he encouraged children to excel in sports and creative activities alongside education. He also announced the provision of laptops and coaching support for high-achieving students.
