A new four-lane road overbridge (ROB) is set to be constructed between Guntur and Nambur railway stations in Andhra Pradesh. The foundation stone for this significant infrastructure project was jointly laid by Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somanna and Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar.

The bridge will span 668 meters and is estimated to cost approximately Rs 108 crore. The entire project is being funded by the Ministry of Railways. This ROB will replace Level Crossing Gate Number 3 on the Guntur-Krishna Canal section, effectively eliminating traffic bottlenecks on this route.

Located near the Inner Ring Road in Guntur, the bridge will provide a direct link between the bus stand road and Gorantla village. The construction requires 2.9 acres of land. Officials stated that the bridge will facilitate smoother vehicle flow, reduce fuel wastage, and improve the punctuality of train services.

Union Minister V. Somanna emphasized that passenger safety is the top priority for Indian Railways. He noted that removing level crossings is an essential step toward modernizing infrastructure. He further highlighted that the central government is accelerating the modernization of rail infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh, with 74 stations being upgraded with world-class facilities at an investment of Rs 3500 crore.

Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar stated that the central government is fully committed to expanding the state's transport network. He highlighted the importance of close coordination between central and state departments to resolve long-standing traffic issues for local residents.

During the event, South Coast Railway General Manager Sandeep Mathur provided insights into the safety works being carried out in the zone. The ceremony was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Basyam Ramakrishna, local MLAs Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar, Mohammad Nazeer, Galla Madhavi, and B. R. Ramanjaneyulu, along with senior railway officials and citizens.
