Dr. Jitendra Singh to Chair 17th Pension Adalat in New Delhi on October 5

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh will lead the 17th Pension Adalat in New Delhi on October 5, 2026. The initiative aims to resolve 897 pending grievances of super senior and family pensioners. Serving as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism, these Adalats have achieved a 71.79 percent success rate in resolving thousands of cases since their inception.

The Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare is organizing the 17th Pension Adalat on October 5, 2026, at the T.N. Chaturvedi Memorial Hall, IIPA, New Delhi. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, will preside over the event. This session will specifically focus on resolving 897 pending grievances of super senior and family pensioners across 24 different ministries and departments.

Pension Adalat is an innovative alternative dispute resolution mechanism launched in 2017. Its primary objective is the immediate and effective resolution of pensioners' grievances. This platform brings all stakeholders together, reducing the need for lengthy court litigation and ensuring a cost-effective grievance redressal process.

According to departmental data, out of 28,797 grievances received in the previous 16 sessions, 20,676 were resolved on the spot, reflecting a success rate of approximately 71.79 percent. Remaining cases were subsequently settled through inter-ministerial review meetings.

This edition of the Pension Adalat will be conducted in a hybrid mode. Pensioners and their relatives from across the country can participate either in person or via video conferencing. This facility is designed to be particularly helpful for senior citizens residing in remote areas.

During the proceedings, Dr. Jitendra Singh will release pamphlets highlighting the success stories of the 16th Pension Adalat held on May 13, 2026. Additionally, a booklet containing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) regarding issues faced by family pensioners will be launched.

This initiative underscores the central government's commitment to reducing litigation and simplifying the lives of pensioners through a 'whole-of-government' approach.
