Lucknow Development Authority swings into action after Delhi building collapse, to identify dilapidated structures
Following the collapse of a PG hostel in Delhi's Satya Niketan, the Lucknow Development Authority has prioritized safety. According to Amar Ujala, the LDA has issued formal orders to identify and survey all dilapidated buildings across the capital to prevent future tragedies and ensure the safety of residents.
VIMARSHNAARAD TVThe recent tragic collapse of a five-story PG hostel in the Satya Niketan area of New Delhi has drawn national attention to the critical importance of building safety standards. In the wake of this incident, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has accelerated its efforts to strengthen safety protocols within the capital city.
According to reports from Amar Ujala, the LDA administration has become proactive following the Delhi tragedy. The authority has issued formal directives to identify all buildings within Lucknow that are currently in a dilapidated or hazardous condition. This measure is intended to prevent potential accidents and ensure the safety of citizens.
Officials emphasize that identifying weak structures in a timely manner is essential. Under the new directives, the LDA will conduct a comprehensive survey of buildings that have aged significantly or whose structural integrity is currently in question.
Priority will be given to structures located in densely populated areas during this survey process. Once identified, owners of these dilapidated buildings will be issued necessary instructions to either undertake structural repairs or vacate the premises to mitigate risks.
This initiative by the LDA is viewed as a precautionary measure stemming from concerns raised by the Delhi incident. The administration's primary objective is to prevent any loss of life or property.
In the coming days, LDA teams are expected to conduct physical inspections across various city neighborhoods. There is a strong possibility of strict action against buildings that fail to meet safety standards.
Residents of Lucknow have welcomed this move, as the city contains numerous aging structures that have remained in risky conditions due to a lack of maintenance over the years.
The authority has clarified that there will be no compromise regarding safety standards. Through this campaign, the LDA also aims to create a clear database regarding the structural status of residential and commercial buildings across the city.
