The Joint Operational Review and Evaluation (CORE) Programme 2026 concluded successfully at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi. Organized by the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff and conducted by the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies, this five-day event took place from September 14 to 18, 2026.
Senior officers from the three armed forces, along with representatives from the Ministries of Defence, External Affairs, and Home Affairs, participated in this programme. The main focus of the discussions remained on the current and emerging challenges related to national security.
Participants shared their views on important topics such as jointness, integration, modern methods of warfare, and defence production. The impact of technologies like Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and quantum computing was also discussed in depth.
A key feature of the programme was the direct interaction between senior military officers and the participants. The Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of the Naval Staff, and other senior officers shared their experiences regarding modern warfare and decision-making processes.
The participation of experts from various government institutions and academicians made the discussions more comprehensive. This helped in understanding the changing nature of warfare and preparing a coordinated national response.
The CORE programme served to strengthen the synergy between the defence forces and civilian ministries. Emphasis was placed on better coordination in diplomatic, economic, and military sectors.
Exercises based on cognitive warfare and strategic communication enriched the learning experience. This programme highlighted the need to adopt a holistic approach towards national security.
Through this event, mutual cooperation between all concerned departments and agencies has received a new direction.
