Major Anti-Drug Crackdown in Punjab: 25,339 Arrests Based on 51,979 Citizen Tips

Punjab has achieved significant success in its enforcement campaign against drug trafficking. According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, police have arrested 25,339 individuals based on confidential information provided by citizens. During the operation, illegal assets and drug-related funds worth ₹22 crore were also seized.

The Punjab Police has significantly intensified its campaign against drug trafficking. DGP Gaurav Yadav reported that a special enforcement drive conducted across the state has yielded remarkable results.

A key feature of this operation has been the active participation of the public. The police received 51,979 confidential tips from citizens, which served as the basis for the arrest of 25,339 individuals.

The police have also struck at the financial networks supporting drug traffickers. During the operation, funds totaling ₹22 crore were seized. This money was either generated from the sale of narcotics or was being held for the purpose of illegal trade.

According to officials, the confiscated funds were linked to the network involved in the purchase, sale, and distribution of illicit substances. This action was taken with the goal of dismantling the entire drug trafficking infrastructure.

The DGP stated that the Punjab government is committed to making the state drug-free. In this direction, the police force is continuously gathering intelligence to take stringent action against traffickers.

The confidential information provided by citizens has been instrumental in helping the police reach the hideouts of traffickers. This is being viewed as a prime example of public-police cooperation.

Such campaigns will continue in the future to ensure the complete eradication of the illegal drug trade. The government and police administration are maintaining a zero-tolerance policy on this issue.

The police have appealed to the general public to continue sharing information regarding any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking so that society can be kept safe.
