Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi. This marked their second meeting this year, following their previous interaction at the SCO summit in Bishkek on August 31, 2026.

During the discussions, both leaders reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including politics, economy, defense, energy, and space. They welcomed the first-ever 'Innoprom India' exhibition held in the country and highlighted its significance in expanding industrial and trade relations.

Both leaders visited the Innoprom India exhibition and interacted with the participants. Furthermore, they exchanged views on India-Russia engagement within multilateral forums, particularly BRICS, under India's presidency for 2026.

Addressing global issues, they shared perspectives on conflicts in West Asia and the Black Sea region. The Prime Minister emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only path to resolve conflicts that have impacted maritime trade and the safety of Indian sailors.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated that India is prepared to assist in peace efforts. Both leaders agreed to continue strengthening the special and privileged strategic partnership between the two nations, which has shown resilience amidst geopolitical uncertainties.

President Putin extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to visit Russia for the 24th India-Russia Annual Summit. The Prime Minister has accepted the invitation.

The dates for the summit will be finalized through diplomatic channels based on mutual convenience. This meeting underscores the deepening ties between the two nations.
