Farrukhabad: Jahanganj SHO suspended for assaulting family seeking justice in child murder case

In Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, a family seeking justice from the Chief Minister regarding a nine-month-old unsolved child murder case was intercepted and assaulted by the Jahanganj Station House Officer. Reports indicate the police also seized a mobile phone to delete video evidence of the incident. Following the public outcry over these allegations, the concerned officer has been placed under suspension.

A tragic child murder case in the Kori Kheda village of Farrukhabad has remained unsolved for nine months, leaving the victim's family in deep distress. Despite their repeated efforts to seek help from local authorities, the case saw no progress, prompting the family to decide to approach the Chief Minister in Lucknow to plead for justice.

As the family set out to present their grievances, they were intercepted by the Jahanganj Station House Officer (SHO). According to reports, the officer not only behaved inappropriately but also physically assaulted the family members who were attempting to travel to the state capital.

During the confrontation, witnesses attempted to record the police action on their mobile phones. It is alleged that the police personnel forcibly snatched the devices and deleted the recorded footage and other data to suppress evidence of the misconduct. This action sparked further outrage among the victims.

News of the assault and the alleged suppression of evidence spread quickly, raising serious questions about the professional conduct of the local police. The incident drew significant attention, leading senior officials to take immediate notice of the situation and initiate an investigation into the allegations.

In response to the gravity of the situation and the mounting pressure, the Jahanganj SHO was suspended with immediate effect. The incident has cast a shadow over the local police force, as the family continues to wait for the perpetrators of the original murder to be identified and brought to justice.

According to Amar Ujala, the suspension followed a formal complaint and the subsequent public outcry regarding the police's behavior. The department has signaled that any form of misconduct or negligence will be met with strict disciplinary action. The investigation into the broader circumstances of the case remains ongoing.
