A tragic accident occurred in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, when a pickup truck carrying pilgrims overturned on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway near Baragaon. The incident resulted in 13 deaths and left 23 others injured. The victims included couples and siblings. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his condolences and announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

A heart-wrenching road accident took place in the Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. A pickup truck filled with pilgrims lost control and overturned on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway near Baragaon. The accident resulted in 13 fatalities, causing widespread grief and shock in the region.

At the time of the crash, the passengers were returning from a religious event. The sudden overturning of the vehicle led to chaos and cries for help. With the assistance of local residents and the police, the injured were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals. A total of 23 people sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Following the identification of the victims, it became clear that the tragedy had devastated several families. Among those who lost their lives were husbands and wives, sisters and brothers, and two pairs of siblings. The news of the loss has cast a pall of gloom over the victims' home villages.

Upon receiving information about the incident, senior district administration and police officials arrived at the scene. Relief and rescue operations were conducted promptly. Instructions were issued to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical care to aid their recovery.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his profound sorrow over the tragic event. While extending his condolences to the bereaved families, he announced financial aid for the victims. The Chief Minister directed that Rs 2 lakh be provided to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to each of the injured individuals.

The administration has instructed medical teams to remain vigilant to provide proper treatment to the survivors. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway to determine whether the vehicle overturned due to a mechanical failure or driver error.

This tragic incident has once again raised concerns regarding road safety regulations. Issues such as high speeds on expressways and the practice of overloading vehicles beyond their capacity remain significant points of concern.

Currently, the police have sent the bodies for post-mortem examinations and are completing the necessary legal formalities. The families of the injured have been notified, and they are arriving at the hospitals to be with their loved ones.
