Car swept away in canal in Agar Malwa, Madhya Pradesh; eight pilgrims from Odisha lose their lives

A tragic road accident in the Agar Malwa district of Madhya Pradesh has resulted in the loss of eight lives. The incident occurred as a family from Odisha was returning after visiting the Baglamukhi temple. Due to heavy rainfall, the road was flooded, causing the car to lose control and plunge into a canal.

According to reports from Aaj Tak, all eight individuals in the vehicle were residents of Odisha. This group included seven members of the same family. The current in the water was so strong that the car was quickly submerged, leaving the passengers with no chance to escape.

Upon receiving information about the incident, local police and rescue teams arrived at the scene. Despite extensive efforts to recover the vehicle from the water, all the passengers had already succumbed to the accident. The administration immediately informed the Odisha government of the tragedy.

Taking the matter seriously, the Odisha government has decided to airlift the bodies of the deceased back to their home state. The state government has assured all possible assistance to the affected families.

Local officials noted that continuous rainfall in the region has caused water levels in canals and drains to rise significantly. Travelers have been advised to exercise extreme caution during adverse weather conditions.

This incident has cast a shadow of grief over the entire region. The administration has expressed condolences to the families of the victims and has begun the process of handing over the bodies after post-mortem examinations.
