Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will address the inaugural session of the Hindi Diwas 2026 and the sixth All India Official Language Conference in Navi Mumbai on Monday, September 14. The event will be attended by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Ministers, members of parliament, scholars, and senior government officials. The conference aims to strengthen coordination and dialogue between Hindi and other Indian languages. The Department of Official Language has been organizing these events annually since 2021, traveling from Varanasi to Maharashtra this year. During the inaugural session, the Home Minister will present the 'Rajbhasha Gaurav' and 'Rajbhasha Kirti' awards for the year 2025-26 to recognize outstanding contributions in the field of official language. Several books and publications will also be launched, including a special edition of 'Rajbhasha Bharati' and a collection of writings by prison inmates titled 'Andheron Se Ujalon Tak'. A major highlight of the conference is a special session dedicated to the national song 'Vande Mataram'. Participants include playback singer Hariharan, writer Nilesh Mishra, and Joydeep Chattopadhyay, a descendant of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. This session will explore the historical and cultural significance of the national song. Additionally, the role of Town Official Language Implementation Committees (TOLIC) will be discussed. On the second day, lyricist Manoj Muntashir will share his thoughts, followed by a cultural program organized by the Maharashtra government. An exhibition featuring 32 stalls will showcase the achievements of various organizations. The event serves as a significant step toward fulfilling the constitutional obligations under Articles 343 and 351 regarding the development and promotion of Hindi.
