Cleanliness Drive in UP: 5000 Locations Including Kanpur Central to Undergo Transformation

The 'Swachhata Hi Seva' fortnight has commenced in Uttar Pradesh, targeting 5000 locations across the state for intensive cleaning. Key sites, including Kanpur Central Railway Station, are part of this initiative. Officials in the Prayagraj division administered cleanliness pledges to staff, focusing on transforming waste-sensitive areas. The campaign aims to significantly improve hygiene standards in public spaces.

The 'Swachhata Hi Seva' fortnight has officially begun in Uttar Pradesh, marking the start of a large-scale cleanliness drive. Under this initiative, 5000 locations across the state have been identified for intensive cleaning operations. These include major transit hubs like Kanpur Central Railway Station, which are critical due to the high volume of daily passengers.

The campaign was formally inaugurated in the Prayagraj division. Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operations) Mohammad Mubashir Waris launched the drive by administering a cleanliness pledge to the assembled officials and staff members. During the event, participants committed to maintaining cleanliness within their workplaces and surrounding environments.

A primary objective of this campaign is to transform areas categorized as 'waste-sensitive.' These locations will receive focused attention, including regular cleaning and the implementation of improved waste management systems. This effort represents a comprehensive approach to elevating hygiene standards at railway stations and other public venues.

Officials noted that the fortnight will involve not just cleaning activities, but also programs designed to raise public awareness about sanitation. Active participation from the general public is considered essential for the success of this initiative.

Maintaining cleanliness at busy stations like Kanpur Central poses a significant challenge, which is why specialized teams have been deployed. These teams are tasked with the disposal of waste and the continuous monitoring of sanitation protocols.

This drive is part of a collaborative effort between the state government and the railway administration. This commitment to cleanliness is expected to not only improve the appearance of public spaces but also provide a healthier environment for passengers and citizens alike.

In the coming days, various activities will be organized under this campaign, potentially including awareness rallies and competitions centered on the theme of sanitation.
