Tragic Incident in Lucknow: Six-Year-Old Boy Drowns in Water-Filled Pit at Vacant Plot

A young life was lost on Saturday evening in Lucknow's Hridaya Bihar Colony. According to a report by Amar Ujala, six-year-old Harshit was playing near his home when the accident occurred. While playing, he reached a vacant plot where a deep pit filled with rainwater had formed.

According to local residents and witnesses, Harshit's foot suddenly slipped as he approached the edge of the pit. Losing his balance, he fell directly into the water. Although bystanders attempted to rescue him, it was unfortunately too late by the time he was pulled out.

Upon receiving the news, family members and neighbors rushed to the scene. Despite their efforts, the child had already succumbed to the accident. This heartbreaking incident has left the residents of the colony in a state of deep grief.

This area falls under the jurisdiction of the Chinhat police station. Since the incident, a pall of gloom has descended over the neighborhood. Local residents have expressed their anger toward the administration regarding the open pits left in vacant plots, stating that such negligence has raised serious questions about safety standards.
