Department of Science and Technology Reviews Preparations and Cleanliness Goals for Special Campaign 6
The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has reviewed the implementation phase of 'Special Campaign 6'. The focus remains on cleanliness, e-waste management, clearing pending matters, and enhancing office efficiency. The department has directed its autonomous institutions and regional organizations to ensure the campaign is result-oriented and follows environmentally responsible disposal practices.

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has moved toward the implementation phase of 'Special Campaign 6' following the successful completion of its preparatory stage. After concluding preparations on September 30, 2026, the department held a joint review meeting for the main phase, which runs from October 2 to October 31, 2026. The meeting was chaired by the Joint Secretary (Administration), who serves as the nodal officer for the campaign.
Senior officials from the DST headquarters participated alongside representatives from the Survey of India, NATMO, Technology Innovation Hubs, and various laboratories via video conferencing. The nodal officer commended the coordinated efforts made by the organizations during the preparatory phase and urged them to maintain momentum throughout the campaign.
The primary objective of the initiative is to go beyond routine cleaning and focus on systematic improvements in workplace efficiency and resource management. Organizations have been advised to systematically remove obsolete records and materials, maximize the use of available office space, and ensure the timely disposal of pending administrative matters.
E-waste management has emerged as a key priority for this campaign. All participating organizations have been instructed to ensure that e-waste is identified, segregated, and disposed of only through authorized recyclers in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022. This aims to promote environmentally safe disposal practices and encourage cleaner workspaces.
Furthermore, there is a strong emphasis on public outreach. Organizations are encouraged to showcase their campaign activities and best practices through official websites and social media platforms, ensuring that the impact of 'Special Campaign 6' contributes to broader public awareness.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to making the campaign more result-oriented, measurable, and citizen-centric. Through these coordinated efforts, the DST aims to institutionalize cleanliness, better record management, and good governance across all its offices.
