Politics heats up over demolition of century-old mosque in Saharanpur, management prepares to move High Court

A century-old mosque located in the Saharanpur Collectorate premises has been demolished after being declared illegal by the court. The action has sparked strong opposition from political parties. The mosque management is forming a panel of lawyers to challenge the decision in the High Court within two days. Kairana MP Iqra Hasan has also accused the government of acting illegally in this matter.

The demolition of a mosque over a hundred years old within the Saharanpur Collectorate premises has become a major point of contention. Following a court order declaring the religious site illegal, the administration carried out the demolition. The incident has triggered widespread protests, with opposition parties questioning the government's approach to the matter.

The mosque management committee has decided to challenge the demolition in the High Court. According to committee members, they are currently assembling a panel of experienced lawyers to handle the case. The management aims to file a writ petition in the High Court within the next two days to seek legal recourse regarding the site's status.

Meanwhile, Kairana MP Iqra Hasan visited Saharanpur to assess the situation. Accompanied by a delegation from the Samajwadi Party, she inspected the site and accused the government of carrying out an illegal act by demolishing the mosque. Iqra Hasan stated that she intends to seek a meeting with the Prime Minister to discuss the grievances surrounding this incident.

The opposition argues that the action taken against such a historic structure was inappropriate. Samajwadi Party leaders have criticized the administration, suggesting that a more sensitive approach should have been adopted. Currently, there is significant tension between the local administration and the affected parties, with everyone awaiting the High Court's response.

The management committee maintains that they possess documents regarding the mosque's history and legitimacy, which they plan to present before the court. Conversely, the administration has defended its actions by citing the court's order. The entire sequence of events has intensified political and social activity in Saharanpur.

The coming days will clarify the legal path forward as the matter reaches the judiciary. For now, the mosque management is focused on its preparations to approach the High Court. Local residents are also calling for a swift resolution to the issue.
