Tragedy in Hamirpur: Two children drown in Chandrawal river, three rescued by villagers

A tragic incident took place on Sunday in Parchh village, located within the Maudaha Kotwali area of Hamirpur district. According to reports from Amar Ujala, a group consisting of five children and one woman had gone to the Chandrawal river to bathe during the afternoon. While in the water, four of them were caught in a strong current and began to drown.

Upon witnessing the individuals struggling in the water, nearby villagers immediately rushed to assist. Displaying great courage, the residents jumped into the river to attempt a rescue. Their efforts were successful in pulling one woman and two others out of the water safely.

Despite the swift response from the locals, two children could not be saved and unfortunately lost their lives due to drowning. While the rescue of the three individuals provided some relief, the loss of the two children has cast a pall of gloom over the entire village.

Local residents noted that the river's current had intensified suddenly, catching the bathers off guard. Following the incident, authorities have urged the public to exercise extreme caution and avoid deep or dangerous sections of the river to prevent such occurrences in the future.
