Hathras: Truck loaded with flour catches fire on Agra-Aligarh highway, driver jumps to safety

A road accident has been reported in the Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh. According to a report by Amar Ujala, a truck loaded with flour was engulfed in a massive fire on the Agra-Aligarh highway. The incident occurred while the truck was en route to Hathras from a firm in Aligarh, carrying approximately 340 bags of flour.

The incident took place on Sunday morning around 6:00 AM. As the truck reached near Chaupal Sagar on the Agra-Aligarh highway in Sasni, one of its rear tyres suddenly burst. The loud explosion from the burst tyre was followed by the truck catching fire. The flames spread so rapidly that the vehicle was soon completely surrounded by fire.

Displaying presence of mind, the truck driver jumped from the moving vehicle to save his life. Fortunately, the driver did not sustain any serious injuries. However, the entire consignment of flour loaded in the truck was destroyed by the fire. Local residents immediately informed the concerned authorities about the incident.

Traffic on the highway was affected following the accident. Upon receiving information, local police and fire department teams reached the spot. The fire brigade had to work hard to bring the flames under control. Since the cargo in the truck was highly flammable, it took significant time to extinguish the fire.

Police are investigating the actual cause behind the tyre burst. Officials are analyzing evidence to determine whether it was a technical failure or some other factor. Currently, there are no reports of any casualties, which is a matter of great relief.

This incident highlights the need for safety standards and regular vehicle maintenance on highways. Incidents like tyre bursts in heavy vehicles often lead to serious accidents.
