Amit Shah Inaugurates World Archery Para Series in Ahmedabad, Highlights 2036 Olympic Bid
Union Home Minister Amit Shah virtually inaugurated the World Archery Para Series. He emphasized India's growing stature as a global sports hub and expressed confidence in Ahmedabad's bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games, noting the city's commitment to world-class sporting infrastructure.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah virtually inaugurated the World Archery Para Series, organized by the Archery Association of India. The event, scheduled from September 5 to 9, features over 108 para-athletes from 19 different countries.
In his address, the Home Minister remarked that the tournament serves as a significant milestone for Ahmedabad. He highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is committed to transforming India into a premier global destination for sports.
Mr. Shah noted that the training and coaching facilities being developed in Ahmedabad are designed to meet international standards. He expressed his vision for the city to become a major training hub, attracting athletes not only from across India but from around the world.
The Home Minister clarified that India's objective extends beyond merely winning medals; the goal is to strengthen the overall capacity for various sports, including the Olympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games. He added that India is also poised to become a global center for sports medicine and injury rehabilitation.
A 29-member Indian contingent is participating in the series. Welcoming the international athletes, Mr. Shah invoked the spirit of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' and praised the achievements of Indian athletes like Harvinder Singh and Sheetal Devi.
Looking toward the future, he mentioned that Ahmedabad is set to host the centenary edition of the Commonwealth Games in 2030. Furthermore, he expressed strong confidence that Ahmedabad would successfully secure the bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games.
Concluding his speech, he encouraged the participants by stating that true champions are forged not just through practice, but through unwavering determination and a strong resolve to succeed.
