The fraudsters instructed the victim to download a file and subsequently siphoned off 6 lakh rupees from their bank account using call forwarding. A new case of cyber fraud has emerged in Agra, where an individual was swindled out of lakhs under the pretext of updating a Green Gas bill. The perpetrators sent a message to the victim via WhatsApp, enticing them with the promise of updating their bill.

According to an Amar Ujala report, the fraudsters coerced the victim into downloading a suspicious file. As soon as the file was downloaded, the criminals activated call forwarding on the victim's phone. Following this, 6 lakh rupees were withdrawn from the victim's bank account.

Upon realizing the fraud, the victim filed a complaint at the cybercrime police station. The police are currently investigating the matter and are searching for the perpetrators. Such incidents have once again raised concerns regarding digital security.

Cyber experts and the police have warned the public not to click on messages or links received from unknown numbers. Extra caution is advised, especially regarding messages related to bill payments or updates.

Fraudsters often use the names of official organizations to intimidate or lure people. The police state that downloading unknown apps or granting permissions for settings like call forwarding can be dangerous.

The manner in which the victim was trapped in this case highlights the new tactics used by cybercriminals. The police have appealed to the public not to share banking information with anyone and to report suspicious activities immediately.

This incident in Agra has once again proven that awareness regarding cyber security is the most effective way to stay safe. The administration is now proceeding with the investigation based on technical evidence.
