Rain and flood havoc in Uttar Pradesh: Ten killed in wall collapse, Mandakini river overflows

Heavy rains and flooding continue to wreak havoc across Uttar Pradesh, claiming ten lives in wall collapse incidents. In Chitrakoot, the Mandakini river has surged 4.5 meters above the danger mark, submerging Ramghat and surrounding structures. The Meteorological Department has warned that the impact of rain and flooding is expected to persist in the coming days, keeping the state on high alert.

The crisis caused by heavy rainfall and flooding is deepening across Uttar Pradesh. According to reports from Amar Ujala, ten people have lost their lives in various parts of the state due to rain-related accidents. These fatalities were primarily caused by the collapse of walls. The Meteorological Department has indicated that the impact of rain and flooding will continue in the coming days, increasing concerns for the administration.

Information received from Chitrakoot reveals that the Mandakini river has taken a formidable form. Due to torrential rains in Madhya Pradesh and hilly regions, the water level of the river has risen rapidly. On Tuesday, the water level crossed the danger mark of 126.50 meters and is currently flowing about 4.5 meters above it.

Due to this aggressive state of the river, the famous Ramghat has been completely submerged. As the water level rose, nearby shops, houses, ashrams, and hotels were also inundated. The situation remains highly challenging for local residents and pilgrims.

The administration is monitoring the situation in the affected areas. However, the continuous rise in the river's water level has made rescue operations difficult. Local officials have advised people to stay in safe locations.

According to the Meteorological Department's forecast, there is little chance of relief in many districts of Uttar Pradesh soon. With the rain expected to continue, there are fears that the water levels of rivers may rise further.

Disaster management teams are on high alert to prevent loss of life and property in flood-affected areas. The administration has instructed residents in low-lying areas to remain vigilant.

Currently, normal life is disrupted across the state due to rain-related incidents and rising river levels. People are seeking safe shelters, and the administration is working to normalize the situation.
