Ravichandran Ashwin questions Rishabh Pant's shot selection, dismisses 'special treatment' narrative

Experienced Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has shared his perspective on Rishabh Pant's approach to the game. During a discussion, Ashwin expressed dissatisfaction with Pant's shot selection and his decision-making on the field. He noted that Pant is now a senior member of the team, and consequently, a higher level of maturity is expected from him.

Ashwin emphasized that Pant needs to demonstrate greater responsibility in his batting. According to him, the shots Pant occasionally plays are not always suited to the team's situation. Ashwin believes that Pant should focus on building his innings and making the right decisions at the right time.

Furthermore, Ashwin addressed the ongoing discourse regarding the special status often accorded to Pant as a 'once-in-a-generation' player. He firmly dismissed this narrative, stating that no player in the team should receive special treatment and that everyone should be evaluated with the same perspective.

Ashwin's comments have become a subject of discussion within the cricketing community. He clarified that the performance of every player is vital for the team's success and that favoring any single individual is not appropriate.

Pant's aggressive batting style has always been a topic of debate. While his fans admire his fearlessness, many former players and experts have frequently questioned his shot selection. Ashwin's statement is a continuation of this ongoing conversation.

Pant's role is crucial for the future of Team India. In this context, advice from senior players could be significant for his development. Ashwin also indicated that discipline and a sense of responsibility are mandatory within the team.

In conclusion, Ashwin stated that his intention is not to criticize Pant, but to see him evolve into a better player. He expressed hope that Pant would learn from his mistakes in upcoming matches and prove to be more effective for the team.
