BCCI prepares for Asian Games 2026, to send special team to Japan to inspect player facilities

The Board of Control for Cricket in India is gearing up for the 2026 Asian Games by sending a special team to Japan. The delegation will inspect accommodation and other essential facilities for the players. This decision follows concerns raised by both the Asian Cricket Council and the BCCI regarding the arrangements in Japan, aiming to ensure that the athletes face no difficulties during the tournament.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has begun proactive preparations for the 2026 Asian Games. The board's primary objective is to ensure that Indian cricketers do not face any inconvenience during the event. Consequently, the BCCI has decided to send a special observer team to Japan to assess the situation on the ground.

This team will visit Japan to closely inspect the accommodation arrangements and other basic amenities provided for the players. The board maintains that the comfort and needs of athletes are paramount during international competitions.

Previously, both the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the BCCI had expressed concerns regarding the facilities available in Japan. After raising questions about the existing arrangements, the board has now decided to send a team to verify the ground reality.

This initiative by the BCCI is considered a significant step toward maintaining the players' performance levels. The board aims to resolve all potential issues well before the tournament commences.

The BCCI is unwilling to take any risks regarding the upcoming games in Japan. Future strategies will be determined based on the report submitted by the visiting team after their inspection.

Regarding the safety and facilities for the players, the board has clarified that it is not in a mood to compromise at any level.

Further information regarding this visit will be shared in the coming days to ensure that everything is smoothly available for the Indian contingent.
