Departmental inquiry initiated against suspended Kanpur RTO clerks; probe to cover broker nexus and financial records

A departmental inquiry has commenced against two suspended clerks, Vipin and Madhur Mishra, at the Kanpur RTO office. The Deputy Transport Commissioner's tribunal has been tasked with investigating the allegations. The probe will scrutinize cash transactions, receipt records, and the alleged nexus between the employees and local brokers operating within the office premises.

The troubles for two clerks, Vipin and Madhur Mishra, stationed at the Kanpur Regional Transport Office (RTO), have intensified. Following their initial suspension, a formal departmental inquiry has now been launched against them. This administrative action aims to verify the serious allegations that led to their removal from active duty.

According to administrative sources, the responsibility for conducting this sensitive investigation has been entrusted to the Deputy Transport Commissioner's tribunal. The tribunal is set to conduct a meticulous analysis of the work performed by these two clerks during their tenure. The scope of the inquiry has been kept broad to ensure that no irregularities are overlooked.

During the investigation, a primary focus will be the reconciliation of cash transactions and the receipts issued by the office. Officials believe that the possibility of manipulation in financial records cannot be entirely ruled out. Consequently, matching receipt books with bank records has been prioritized.

Furthermore, the investigation will also scrutinize the network of brokers who have been active in the RTO office for a long time. Efforts will be made to determine if these suspended employees had any collusion with these brokers, which might have resulted in a loss of government revenue.

Future disciplinary actions against these employees will be determined based on the findings of this departmental inquiry. For now, the department has assured complete transparency in the matter to improve the overall functioning of the office.

This action follows allegations of corruption within the RTO office. Locally, this probe is being viewed as an attempt by the department to improve its image. The investigating officer is expected to submit a report to higher authorities soon.

According to Amar Ujala, this inquiry has caused a stir among other employees in the department. All eyes are now on the tribunal's report, which will determine the future of these clerks.
