Kanpur: Ganga remains below warning level despite release of over 3 lakh cusecs from barrage

Despite the release of over 3.09 lakh cusecs of water from the Kanpur barrage on Tuesday morning, the water level of the Ganga river remains below the warning mark. The administration is closely monitoring the fluctuations in river levels. Currently, the situation is under control, providing relief as the water level stays below the critical point.

Amidst rising river levels in Kanpur, news emerged on Tuesday morning regarding the release of a significant volume of water. A total of 309,365 cusecs of water was discharged from the Kanpur barrage into the Ganga river. Despite such a large volume of water being released, the river's level remains below the warning mark, bringing relief to the local administration.

Fluctuations in river levels have been observed continuously over the past few days. In view of this, the barrage management took this step to regulate the water flow. Officials state that they are maintaining constant surveillance of the situation to avoid any form of emergency.

For residents living in areas along the banks of the Ganga, the situation currently remains normal. However, exercising caution, the administration has instructed residents in low-lying areas to remain vigilant. Hourly reports on water levels are being collected to ensure appropriate measures can be taken in a timely manner.

The fact that the water level remains below the warning point even after the release from the barrage indicates that the river's carrying capacity is currently safe. The administration has clarified that they are fully prepared, and disaster management teams have been kept on alert in anticipation of any potential threats.

Local residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary visits to the riverbanks. The administration has implemented robust security arrangements at the ghats and has increased surveillance to prevent any untoward incidents. At present, the Ganga's water level is stable, and the situation is entirely under control.
