Farmers in Kanpur distressed over delayed compensation for land acquired for Defence Corridor

Sixty farmers in Kanpur's Narval tehsil are awaiting compensation after handing over their land for the Defence Corridor project. Despite completing the registry 15 days ago, they have yet to receive payment. These farmers are now making repeated visits to government offices to secure their funds, as no money has been credited to their bank accounts so far.

Farmers in Kanpur's Narval tehsil are facing significant distress following the acquisition of their land for the Defence Corridor industrial project. According to reports from Amar Ujala, approximately 60 farmers have officially completed the sale deeds for their property, yet they remain without the promised compensation.

Even after the formal completion of the registry process, the farmers have not received their payments. It has been over 15 days since the land was transferred, leaving the landowners in a state of uncertainty as they make repeated visits to government offices to inquire about their dues.

The affected farmers stated that they had trusted the administration and surrendered their land, but the delay in payment has caused them immense anxiety. With no funds credited to their bank accounts, they are struggling with financial instability.

Despite frequent visits to officials, the farmers have received only verbal assurances. The lack of timely payment has led to growing frustration and disappointment among the community, as they continue to struggle for their rightful earnings.

Timely compensation is a critical aspect of land acquisition for major industrial projects like the Defence Corridor. However, the delays in this specific case have raised questions regarding the administrative process and the handling of the farmers' claims.

The farmers are now demanding an immediate release of their compensation to meet their ongoing financial needs. As of now, no clear timeline for the payment has been provided by the authorities involved.

This situation has created various challenges for the affected families in the Narval region. They are hopeful that the administration will intervene promptly to resolve the issue and ensure that their pending payments are processed without further delay.
