Pandu River swells in Kanpur; 16 families evacuated to safety

The rising water level of the Pandu River in Kanpur has triggered flood threats in low-lying areas. According to Amar Ujala, water entered the Mauja Jarauli area of Gopalnagar, prompting authorities to evacuate 16 families to safer locations. The river's resurgence has caused renewed anxiety among residents, as the area had not yet fully recovered from previous flooding.

The rising water level of the Pandu River in Kanpur has once again increased the difficulties for local residents. The area had barely recovered from the previous bout of flooding when the river began to swell again. This sudden increase in water levels has cast a shadow of flood threats over several settlements.

According to a report by Amar Ujala, the river water has entered the populated Mauja Jarauli area of Gopalnagar. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the local administration immediately initiated relief operations. Sixteen families from the affected areas have been relocated to safer places.

There is an atmosphere of panic among those living along the riverbanks. The administration has increased surveillance in the affected settlements and advised residents to remain vigilant. The continuous rainfall over the past few days has contributed to the rising water levels, posing a significant risk to those residing in low-lying regions.

Local residents expressed that they were hoping to repair their homes after the previous floodwaters receded, but the river's resurgence has dashed those hopes. The entry of water into their homes has completely disrupted their daily lives.

The administration is making efforts to provide food and other essential supplies to the affected families. Rescue teams are continuously monitoring the situation to ensure that immediate assistance can be provided in case of any emergency.

The rising water levels of the Pandu River have also inundated nearby agricultural fields, raising concerns about significant losses for farmers. The administration has appealed to the public to avoid visiting the riverbanks and to stay in safe locations.

An alert has been issued by the administration in view of the weather forecast for the coming days. Relief and rescue operations will continue until the water level of the river subsides.
