Kanpur: Cyber Fraudster Targets Two BA Students, Extorts 40,000 Rupees Through Blackmail

In Kanpur, a cyber fraudster targeted two BA students by posing as a London resident on Instagram. After befriending the students, the fraudster obtained their private photos and used them for blackmail. According to an Amar Ujala report, the perpetrator extorted 40,000 rupees from the victims. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

A serious case of cybercrime has emerged in Kanpur, where a fraudster targeted two BA students. The accused used the social media platform Instagram to pose as a resident of London and befriended the two friends who study at the same college. After gaining their trust, the fraudster managed to obtain their private photographs.

According to an Amar Ujala report, once the photos were obtained, the fraudster revealed his true intentions and began blackmailing the students. He threatened to make the photos public and demanded money. Fearing the consequences, the students paid him 40,000 rupees, but the threats from the fraudster continued.

This incident highlights the growing concerns regarding cyber security. It serves as another example of how fraudsters create fake identities on social media to trap individuals. The victimized students have reported the matter to the relevant authorities, following which the police have initiated an investigation.

Police state that they are analyzing technical evidence to identify the accused and locate his whereabouts. With the assistance of the cyber cell, the Instagram account and transaction details are being scrutinized to apprehend the fraudster.

This case has once again sparked a debate among students and youth regarding online safety. Experts advise that one should exercise extreme caution when befriending strangers on social media. Under no circumstances should private photos or sensitive information be shared.

Kanpur police have appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity to the cyber cell immediately. In such cases, seeking legal help rather than panicking is the safest course of action.

Currently, the police are proceeding with the investigation, and the students have been assured of safety. The network of cyber fraudsters continues to expand, and awareness remains the most effective weapon to combat these threats.
