Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda held a review meeting with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to assess the state's healthcare progress. The discussion covered health infrastructure, medical education, and public health initiatives. The Minister lauded the state government's efforts, specifically highlighting the innovative use of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to expand healthcare services.

Significant strides have been made in medical education, with MBBS seats in the state increasing from 5,600 to 6,120 in 2026. Super-specialty seats in both government and private medical colleges have also seen a notable rise. New medical colleges are being established in Dhar, Panna, Katni, and Betul under the PPP model, with a completion target set for 2027.

Improvements in maternal and child health indicators were also noted. The Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) has decreased by 7 points, and there has been an increase in the proportion of pregnant women receiving antenatal care. Additionally, both infant and neonatal mortality rates have shown a downward trend.

To enhance access to specialized care, hemodialysis units have been made operational across 52 districts, alongside the establishment of cancer day-care centers. Advanced facilities, such as CAR-T cell therapy, have also been introduced at the government medical college in Indore.

During the review, it was reported that medical college buildings in Chhatarpur, Damoh, and Budhni have been completed. Construction is ongoing in Ujjain, while new colleges are proposed for Rajgarh and Mandla.

Concluding the session, both the central and state governments reaffirmed their commitment to building a robust, accessible, and patient-centric healthcare system. Senior officials from the Ministry of Health and the state government were present during the deliberations.
