Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol inaugurated the new head office of Shri Bireshwar Co-operative Credit Society in Belagavi. He highlighted the government's efforts to strengthen the cooperative sector under the 'Sahakar se Samriddhi' vision. During the event, he praised the institution's achievements, noting that nearly half of the country's population is connected to the cooperative system in some form.

Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol formally inaugurated the new head office of Shri Bireshwar Co-operative Credit Society Limited in the Belagavi district of Karnataka. The event was attended by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, along with various state dignitaries and representatives from the cooperative sector. The minister congratulated the team, describing the occasion as a significant milestone for the cooperative landscape in Karnataka.

Mr. Mohol noted that the society has achieved a wide reach, boasting approximately 4.60 lakh members and 263 branches across the country. The institution currently manages a business volume exceeding 9,000 crore rupees. He extended his best wishes to all members on the occasion of the society's 36th foundation day.

The minister lauded the 'Sahakar se Samriddhi' vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. He stated that the establishment of a dedicated Ministry of Cooperation has brought transformative changes to the sector over the past five years. Currently, more than 8.5 lakh cooperative institutions are operational in India, involving approximately 32 crore people.

Highlighting government initiatives, Mr. Mohol mentioned that work worth 3,000 crore rupees has been initiated for the computerization of 80,000 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). Furthermore, rural cooperatives are being linked to over 25 different business activities to diversify their income sources.

To strengthen cooperative banking, the government has established an umbrella organization for Urban Cooperative Banks and launched the 'Sahakar Sarthi' platform for rural cooperative banks. The minister also emphasized that the sector will require 17 lakh trained personnel over the next decade, a need being addressed by the establishment of the 'Tribhuvan' Cooperative University.

Concluding his address, Mr. Mohol underscored the role of the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) in providing financial and institutional support to cooperatives. He expressed confidence that Shri Bireshwar Co-operative Credit Society would continue to play a vital role in advancing the cooperative movement in the future.
