Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh recently inaugurated the new office-cum-court complex for the Jammu Bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) at Bahu Plaza, Jammu. On this occasion, he highlighted the remarkable speed with which the Jammu and Srinagar benches have resolved service-related matters. He noted that this tribunal has become one of the top-performing benches in the country regarding case disposal.

According to the data, 20,984 cases were transferred to these CAT benches from the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, out of which 18,392 have already been resolved. Additionally, out of 20,405 new cases received directly, 13,952 have been disposed of. A total of 41,389 cases have been processed, significantly reducing the number of pending matters.

Dr. Singh emphasized that the appeal rate against the decisions of the CAT Jammu Bench in the High Court is only 8 percent, which reflects the efficiency of the tribunal. He stated that the primary objective of CAT is to provide affordable and swift justice to government employees. A nominal fee of 50 rupees is charged for original applications, while no fees are levied for other petitions.

The minister mentioned that the tribunal has made extensive use of technology. Facilities such as the Advanced Case Information System, e-filing, and video conferencing have made the judicial process more accessible. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, operations continued through these digital mediums. He added that the government is continuously striving to strengthen the institutional capacity of CAT to ensure the rapid resolution of employee grievances.

Dr. Jitendra Singh appreciated the cooperation of the lawyers in Jammu and the state government. He stated that the new complex will improve infrastructure and enable the tribunal to function at its full potential. To bring transparency and speed to CAT's operations, officials are also being provided training under 'Mission Karmayogi'.
