First batch of Corporate Mitra course begins with 2879 registrations

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has launched the first batch of the 'Corporate Mitra' course, with 2879 students enrolled. The initiative aims to train para-professionals to assist MSMEs with business and regulatory compliance.

Under the guidance of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, a new initiative titled the 'Corporate Mitra' course has been launched. The inaugural batch has seen 2879 learners register for the program. This initiative is being conducted in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, and the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.

The primary objective of this initiative is to provide support to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in managing their business and regulatory compliance requirements. The program aims to develop a pool of trained para-professionals to assist these businesses. Technical and academic support for the program is provided by IIT Madras and Swayam Plus.

The course was officially inaugurated at a ceremony in New Delhi, attended by Joint Secretary Anita Shah Akella and senior officials from the three professional institutes. During the event, Akella emphasized that the goal of the initiative is to make compliance processes simpler and more accessible for entrepreneurs.

The curriculum spans a total duration of 12 months, divided into two distinct phases. In the first six months, learners will receive 150 hours of structured academic instruction, primarily through recorded video lectures. This will be followed by six months of practical, on-the-job training within professional firms.

Through a digital learning ecosystem, students will have access to expert-curated materials, assessments, and discussion forums. This initiative is expected to not only enhance the ease of doing business but also contribute to job creation and inclusive economic growth.

The government believes that the 'Corporate Mitra' initiative will transform compliance from a perceived burden into a mechanism for transparency and accountability. This program is viewed as a significant step toward the formalization of India's MSME sector.

Presidents and vice-presidents from all participating professional institutes were present at the launch, reaffirming their commitment to the success of the course. The professionals trained through this program are expected to play a vital role in guiding the MSME sector in the future.
