The Department of Food and Public Distribution has accelerated its efforts for cleanliness and the disposal of pending matters under 'Special Campaign 6'. Reiterating its commitment to cleanliness, the department has identified 949 sites across the country for cleaning. Additionally, e-waste and obsolete items are being disposed of to ensure better utilization of space within office premises and to potentially increase revenue.
To ensure the swift resolution of pending matters, the department has initiated special efforts. This includes prioritizing the disposal of 13 references from Members of Parliament, 691 public grievances, 5 references from state governments, and 17 appeals related to public grievances.
A comprehensive review process is underway regarding record management. The department has brought 31,117 physical files and 13,058 e-files under review. Out of these, the examination of 3,875 old files has already been completed, and they have been marked for disposal.
According to the current status, there are no pending PMO references or inter-ministerial matters within the department. However, officials remain vigilant to monitor any new cases that may arise. The department is also keeping a close watch on simplifying rules and procedures.
The department has stated that it is fully committed to achieving all its targets within the stipulated timeframe. Through this campaign, efforts are being made to elevate the standards of cleanliness and good governance in all its offices.
