As the water levels of the Mandakini river in Chitrakoot have receded, the horrific extent of the flood damage has been revealed. The water levels around the Ramghat area were so high that they engulfed everything in their path. Until Thursday evening, several temples and commercial establishments remained completely submerged.

According to preliminary reports, more than 250 shops have been completely destroyed by the floods. Traders have lost their merchandise to the water, leaving them facing a severe financial crisis. Additionally, an entire hotel was submerged, causing significant damage to property.

The scale of the disaster is evident from the fact that important personal documents and academic degrees were washed away by the floodwaters. This represents a major tragedy for the local residents. According to administrative estimates, the total loss from this natural disaster is expected to be around 100 crore rupees.

Ramghat, a prominent religious and tourist destination in Chitrakoot, has been severely affected. Now that the water has receded, piles of mud and debris have accumulated in the area. The local administration is currently engaged in cleaning and relief operations.

Affected shopkeepers and residents have demanded compensation from the government. They state that their livelihoods have been completely destroyed and that they are in urgent need of government assistance to rebuild their lives.
