DPIIT to Promote Cleanliness and Record Management Through Special Campaign 6.0 in October

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry will conduct Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to 31, 2026. The initiative aims to institutionalize cleanliness, resolve pending matters, manage e-waste responsibly, and optimize office space. Building on previous successes, the campaign focuses on enhancing administrative efficiency and fostering a sustainable, citizen-centric work environment across all affiliated organizations.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has announced the launch of 'Special Campaign 6.0' from October 2 to 31, 2026. This nationwide initiative aims to establish cleanliness as a permanent culture within the department and its 19 affiliated, subordinate, and autonomous organizations. The campaign will focus on reducing pending administrative cases, streamlining record management, and ensuring the optimal utilization of available office space.

The campaign is structured in two phases. During the preparatory phase, running from September 15 to 30, 2026, the department will identify specific targets, review pending files, and finalize preparations for sanitation activities. Following this, the main campaign will be conducted throughout October, emphasizing the cleaning of office premises and the disposal of obsolete items.

DPIIT achieved significant results during the previous 'Special Campaign 5.0'. At that time, after reviewing 1,572 physical files, 1,119 were weeded out according to established procedures, freeing up 11,235 square feet of office space and generating over 1.7 million rupees in revenue. Inspired by these outcomes, the current campaign places greater emphasis on sustainable cleaning practices and environmentally friendly methods.

Special Campaign 6.0 prioritizes the management of electronic waste (e-waste). The department will facilitate the collection, segregation, and scientific disposal of e-waste through authorized agencies. This effort is intended to not only create cleaner workspaces but also promote eco-friendly disposal practices across government offices.

The department is also encouraging its organizations to adopt innovative solutions. The 'Waste to Wealth' initiative by the Indian Rubber Manufacturers Research Association (IRMRA), which utilized waste rubber in road construction, serves as a model. Such exemplary methods will be encouraged for wider adoption across other offices during the campaign.

Ultimately, the goal of this campaign is to foster a work culture that prioritizes accountability, good governance, and citizen-centric services rather than just temporary cleaning. The department believes these efforts will enhance the efficiency of government workplaces and ensure that the achieved results remain effective long after the campaign concludes.
